MHS Track 2026

The Lawton Public Schools track and field athletes returned to town on May 16 with a handful of medals and awards from the OSSAA State Championship Meet, including the MacArthur High School boys squad who was the 5A OSSAA State Runner-Up with a pair of State Champions.

The Highlanders, who were the State Runner-Up in 2015, collected 67 total points, just six shy of the eventual State Champion, Duncan High School. They were aided by a pair of first place finishers: Shaun Hughes (shot put) and Quinton Mask (100m).

Hughes, a senior who is headed to Texas Christian University (TCU) for throwing next year, is a two-time state champion in the shot put. He followed up his 2025 effort with a throw of 59 feet, 3 inches to claim first. He added a silver medal in the discus to his trophy case, throwing a distance of 172 feet, 11 inches to record his second top-5 finish of the meet.

Mask, a senior who committed to run at Tulsa University in college, cemented himself as the fastest man in 5A with his performance in the 100m dash. He ran a time of 10.18 in the final after running a 10.14 in the preliminary race. Mask also brought home a silver medal in the 200m with a time of 21.20 in the final.

Senior Kenyon Gabriel also brought home a silver medal, clearing a length of 21 feet, 9.75 inches in the long jump; Gabriel was also a state qualifier in the 110m hurdles. MHS also had junior Nyall Prather record a pair of top-5 finishes, including placing fourth in the 800m with a time of 1:57.60 and 3200m with a time of 9:40.67; Prather also placed sixth in the 1600m with a time of 4:31.05.

The Highlanders also picked up a fourth place finish in the 4x100 relay. The group of Mask, sophomore Jaden Huff, senior Matthew Howell, and senior Darriyon Mosley recorded a total time of 42.41 in the relay race. Additionally, MHS boys qualified for State in the 4x400 relay and 4x800 relay as well as junior Trevin Shelton qualifying in the 800m, but missed out on a podium spot in each.

MacArthur’s girls were led by sophomore Allena Cotanny, who had a pair of sixth place finishes, running a time of 2:22.91 in the 800m and 5:28.98 in the 1600m; she also qualified for the 3200m race. MHS additionally qualified in the 4x400 as well as freshman Makayla Blackwell qualifying in the 100m, junior Er Yanna Houston in the 200m, sophomore Bethany Whiteeagle in the 400m, and freshman Quinlayiah Mask in the shot put.

The west side of town also had a good contingency at the State meet with the Eisenhower High School girls track squad qualifying for a handful of events. The top finisher for the Lady Eagles went to junior Isabella Musselman, who finished third in the discus with a throw of 136 feet, 4 inches; Musselman also qualified in the shot put for EHS. The team’s 4x200 relay team of junior Xenobia James, sophomore Ava Towns, junior Marchell Watson, and sophomore Devan Roberson placed eighth with a total time of 1:44.52. Additionally, IKE qualified but missed out on the podium in the 4x100, 4x400, 4x800, and sophomore Amara Baker qualified in the 300m hurdles.

Lawton High School had athletes on both the girls and boys teams qualify for State in 2026. Junior Hayley Rosinski led the girls squad with a fourth place finish in the 300m hurdles (48.42) and a fifth place finish in the 110m hurdles (15.32); she also finished ninth in the long jump, clearing a distance of 16 feet, 1.5 inches. Junior Olivia Williams also qualified for State in the discus and freshman Haile Perry qualified in the shot put. On the boys side, junior Hayden Graves made the podium with a fourth place finish in the discus, throwing a length of 164 feet, 7 inches. LHS also qualified a pair of relay teams, the 4x100 and 4x200 but both failed to make the podium this year.
